Word.
Here are some of the words given Tuesday at Body Life for Soul Pardon:
From Kyle~
"This is a picture I received during worship Tuesday. It was all dark except for two guys, one had his shirt off and the other was leaning over him. The guy leaning over was giving him a tattoo, but he was using a homemade tattooing machine, it looke like it was stuck together with duct tape. He was not doing it the normal way either, he wasn't going slow and meticulous, but rather was scrawling upon him in Hebrew. The scripture that kept coming to mind was the one that says my name is tattooed upon your heart. As I was thinking about the picture I kept being drawn to his homemade tattooing machine. It reminded me of the early church and how it had been really raw and underground. And that as Christianity has become more and more mainstream we've tamed down Jesus until [we've perceive that] He is nothing more than witty sayings and zen stories. So this brought me to another word, we are called to be a generation of moles, like the mole people. When moles inhabit the land you may not see them, but you know they are there, because they leave ripples in the ground. Not in a bad way, where we are not seen, but we are to leave "ripples" in society."
From Calli~
"I feel like the Lord is calling us to battle. But we don't need to get prepared, we just need to have faith in Him bacause the battle is already won. We just need to declare it."

Matt's Recommended Reading
I just finished an amazing book titled, Serve God, Save the Planet by J. Matthew Sleeth. It's about a wealthy ER director who had everything; a large house, luxury vehicles and financial abundance, etc. After treating many patients who were ill and some who died from environmental elements, he decided to give up his job and pursue a mission to save the planet.
As an evangelical Christian, he draws from Scripture to point out God's call on our lives to be better stewards to His gift of creation. He shares from personal experiences of how he sold his big house and moved into a smaller one, cut his annual energy cost to a third of what it used to be and his trash producing to almost nothing. Sleeth also gives us simple, practical tips on how we can do the same.
For me, this book really spoke to my spirit. We have a responsibility to examine the way we live, what we use and what and how much we consume and to try to reduce, reuse and recycle. The "Green" movement is upon us, and this book shows us how to be better caretakers of the beautiful, precious, dying planet.
Also, see Sleeth's website, http://www.servegodsavetheplanet.org/ for more valuable info.

2 More Worship Practices
For any instrumentalist that is able to come, we will be holding 2 additional practices on Thursday, July 31 & Thursday, August 7 at the Worship & Ministry Center from 5:30-7 p.m. Please let me know if you need a ride. Singers are welcome to attend, but these practices will be focused on the instruments. You are responsible for bringing your music to each practice. If you CANNOT make it to a practice, or would like to get together to work on the songs separately, give Kate a call.

IT'S OFFICIAL!!!
Our next Youth Sunday will be on August 10th!!!
We're gonna start planning the service this coming Tuesday. We are hoping to be able to have Soul Pardon serve in many areas on that Sunday including Connections, Sound Board, Imager, Communion Stewards, Prayer Team and Worship Team. Matt will be facilitating the service and Jen will be preaching. At least that's the plan for now!
NOTE: If you are interested in being on the worship team, there are a limited number of spaces available. A significant time commitment will be required for practices. If you can make EVERY practice, then you can sign up for a spot on the team. A practice schedule will be available on Tuesday.

last night @ body life...
...we spent some time soaking in the scriptures. we focused on luke 6:27-36 (expanded passage: luke 6:27-39).
spend some time this week marinating in the words Jesus spoke.
READ the passage aloud slowly and thoughtfully. repeat. read it in another translation. we read it out of the message:remix on tuesday. if you don't have a copy of the message, you can read it online here.
THINK about what Jesus is saying to you through this passage. ask yourself:
***if Jesus spoke these words to me, what would they mean?
***which words stand out to me?
***what might Jesus be trying to get across to me?
PRAY about how He would have you apply this passage to your life. tell Him what you think about what He is saying in this passage. listen for His response.
put what you are learning into practice. LIVE out this lesson.
***let your enemies "bring out the best in you"
***respond with the energies of prayer for people
***"practice the servant life" when someone is unfair
***"live generously"
***give without expecting in return
lesson taken from the message//remix:solo an uncommon devotional by eugene h. peterson
