Matt's Recommended Reading

I just finished an amazing book titled, Serve God, Save the Planet by J. Matthew Sleeth. It's about a wealthy ER director who had everything; a large house, luxury vehicles and financial abundance, etc. After treating many patients who were ill and some who died from environmental elements, he decided to give up his job and pursue a mission to save the planet.
As an evangelical Christian, he draws from Scripture to point out God's call on our lives to be better stewards to His gift of creation. He shares from personal experiences of how he sold his big house and moved into a smaller one, cut his annual energy cost to a third of what it used to be and his trash producing to almost nothing. Sleeth also gives us simple, practical tips on how we can do the same.

For me, this book really spoke to my spirit. We have a responsibility to examine the way we live, what we use and what and how much we consume and to try to reduce, reuse and recycle. The "Green" movement is upon us, and this book shows us how to be better caretakers of the beautiful, precious, dying planet.

Also, see Sleeth's website, http://www.servegodsavetheplanet.org/ for more valuable info.
